高2生、和文英訳型英作文の問題です。
問題
- 経験を積んではじめて、すべてのものはかならずしも見かけ通りではないことを認識できるようになるのである。（白百合女子大）
英作文
- It is not until you experience many things that you can recognize that what you can see is not always what it actually is.
解説
- 「見かけ通り」をwhat it actually isと解釈。若干のずれを感じていたので英文を書きながら、「seemを使って書く方がいいかもね。」と話していたのですが、後で確認するとwhat it seems to be.が最適解でした。
